Summer hair can be a nightmare! In addition to all the heat and products you may use on your hair on a daily basis, the sun can be extremely damaging to your hair. Overexposure to the sun effects the protective barrier of natural oils we have and can cause inflammation to occur. Not only does this begin to restrict how much your hair will grow but it will also eventually lead to actual hair loss.
Obviously, you can’t hide your hair all summer long but there are some things that you can do that will help protect your hair from some of the damage that could be done to your hair this summer. It is right around the corner so the time to start is now. The better health your hair is in going into the summer, the better it will hold up through the summer months.
One of the ways you can do this is to switch to natural hair products. You can use simple baby shampoo and create your own perfect blend. First, steep your herbs in distilled water. Here are a few herbs you can use:
Chamomile lightens blond hair
Cloves, walnut leaves and shells highlight dark hair
Sage colors dark and grey hair
Lavender is good for oily hair
Parsley improves color and shine and prevents dandruff
Nasturtium promotes growth
Strain the herbs and add the baby shampoo. Gently stir and pour into a labeled bottle. It is best to keep that refrigerated and use a small bottle that you can refill weekly in your shower. Do not expect a lot of sudsing with this shampoo.
It goes without saying that the less heat you can put your hair through, the better so obviously My Easy Curl Rollers are far better for your hair any time of the year but especially in the summer. Here is something you may not have thought about though. I am not in the medical field but Bouffant scrub caps can be satin lined so you could literally get your curls all plopped out at the end of the day and then put the adjustable scrub cap on good and tight with all your curls up on top of your head. Get a good nights sleep and when you wake up, your curls drop out looking better than ever with just a quick finger comb through.
Bouffant scrub caps are machine washable and dryable. We Pre-wash all of our fabric in hot water and dry on a high heat setting to pre-shrink. After this pre-shrinking, we iron the fabric, cut each cap out and begin the sewing process.
As with any 100% cotton fabric there may be additional shrinking. Wash And dry on the lowest temperature setting you can to minimize shrinking and extend the life of your cap.
Give it a shot! We would love to see your results!
